Born of an ancient glacier flow, edged by the Great Canadian Shield, Lake Kabetogama is surrounded by wilderness untamed by time. You will find creation in it’s most natural state, teeming with plant and wildlife. Aspen, White pine, Norway pine, and Birch trees dominate the landscape. Wildlife include deer, bear, moose, timber wolf and numerous bird species.

Lake Kabetogama itself is dotted with over 200 remote, scenic islands that maintain their beauty through harsh winter storms and produce rich foliage and wild berries in the summer.

Situated along the US-Canadian border, Lake Kabetogama has a 500 mile, rocky shoreline. Several beaches are tucked into the numerous coves along the lakeshore. Lake Kabetogama covers in excess of 25,000 acres of clean, cool water and is one of four major lakes that make up the Voyageurs National Park.

Minnesota’s only national park, Voyageurs National Park was established in 1975 to commemorate a key stretch of waterway canoed by 18th century French-Canadian Voyageurs who transported goods and furs along the border waters.

Modern day Voyageurs still travel the waterway as the best means of exploring the park. Whether you’re an angler looking for the tasty walleye, someone in need of relaxation or an outdoor enthusiast our resort can provide you with boats and motors or safe docking for your own boat. Large boats have easy access to the interconnecting Voyageur waterway made up of Lake Kabetogama, Namakan, Sand Point, and Crane Lakes. Lake Kabetogama to Crane Lake is approximately 65 miles end to end and offers a boat ride unequaled anywhere else.
